Sown Into Babylon

In order for us to know the Father we have to understand why we have been placed on the earth. Zerubbabel means “sown into Babylon”. We have to believe that we have been sown into Babylon. Christ was sown into the earth, Joseph was sown into Egypt and similarly we have been sown into the systems of the world. The key is to know why we have been sown into Babylon.

Zech 4:6

6 So he answered and said to me:

"This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:

'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit ,'

Says the LORD of hosts. NKJV

Dan 1:1-2

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of the articles of the house of God, which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god. NKJV

The key figures in Israel were in Babylon during the captivity. This was because the captivity was from God and not from the devil. It is the Lord that has sown us into Babylon so that we can live for Him.

Ezek 1:1-3

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God. 2 On the fifth day of the month, which was in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin's captivity, 3 the word of the LORD came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the River Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was upon him there. NKJV

The evidence of an open heaven is that the word must come expressly. We have to know how to be in Babylon but not be captives in Babylon. This will only take place once we come to maturity.

Zerubbabel was called out of Babylon to build God a house. We have been sown into Babylon so that we can live a called out life. We are building the family name. Banah means to build, construct, obtaining children.

The word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel when God wanted His people to build. There must be a word that accompanies what God wants us to do. We have been given a word along with the mandate that God has given us.

Hag 1:1-2

In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, 2 "Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying: 'This people says, "The time has not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built."'" NKJV

Zerubbabel was not just a normal citizen, he was the governor. We have been called to be sons and to govern on the earth. We have to govern the kingdom of God on the earth. It is important to note how Joshua and Zerubbabel are always mentioned together. They had the mandate to build in oneness. It is essential to discover what their relationship symbolised.

1 Chron 3:17-21

And the sons of Jeconiah were Assir, Shealtiel his son, 18 and Malchiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar, Jecamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah. 19 The sons of Pedaiah were Zerubbabel and Shimei. The sons of Zerubbabel were Meshullam, Hananiah, Shelomith their sister, 20 and Hashubah, Ohel, Berechiah, Hasadiah, and Jushab-Hesed — five in all. 21 The sons of Hananiah were Pelatiah and Jeshaiah, the sons of Rephaiah, the sons of Arnan, the sons of Obadiah, and the sons of Shechaniah NKJV

Hag 1:12-13

Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him; and the people feared the presence of the LORD. NKJV

The relationship between Joshua and Zerubbabel was of a spiritual father and his spiritual son. Joshua and Zerubbabel were not connected by their lineage. Joshua was the high priest. You have to build with the father that has been placed over your life. The high priest is the picture of the spiritual father. There has to be a perfect joining in order for the building pattern to take place. The father is the one who gives the spiritual insight so that the son can govern.

Hag 2:20-23

And again the word of the LORD came to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying, 21 "Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying:

'I will shake heaven and earth.

22 I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms;

I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms.

I will overthrow the chariots And those who ride in them;

The horses and their riders shall come down, Every one by the sword of his brother.

23'In that day,' says the LORD of hosts, 'I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,' says the LORD,'and will make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you,' says the LORD of hosts." NKJV

The Lord makes a promise to Zerubbabel, the son. The Lord wants to make a promise to the son. This promise comes to the son who walks in covenant. As a son that walks in covenant God will want to use you like a signet ring and as a seal on the earth to establish things.
